I think they'd be disgusted: disgusted with the politicians for reverting to fascism; disgusted with the rest of us for letting that happen.

One of the greatest things they bequeathed us was the Nuremberg Code. Another was the Geneva Convention.

We observe neither.

We have betrayed our Fallen. And ourselves.

It is a beautiful thing to remember our war dead, together, once a year.

Surely they would want us, particularly, to remember the values they fell for, each and every day of the year.
